The project is a modular and systematic design that has so far resulted in 21 preschools built in various urban and peri-urban environments. Rather than being a single architectural object designed specifically for one place or location, it is an open system composed of modules, capable of adapting to different topographic, urban, and programmatic conditions. The core notions of function and efficiency in architecture are challenged in this project through the concept of play, understood as a spatial idea that supports the exploration of new cognitive experiences.
Designed as a system, the educational spaces are presented as independent, self-sufficient modules that also share a fast and simple construction process. This organization allows the system to respond to the spatial conditions of each program and to integrate freely with its context: it can fold, retract (to create central spaces or courtyards), or rotate to accommodate pre-existing features such as trees, ponds, or natural terrain.
